Combining Laughter with Compassion: Mark Ridley's Comedy Castle hosts Comedy for a Cause, a Salvation Army fundraiser

Comedian Rocky Laporte to headline February 7 show

Royal Oak, Mich. (Jan 23, 2018) Mark Ridley's Comedy Castle in Royal Oak is hosting the 7th annual Comedy for a Cause, a night of entertainment, laughter, and charity, benefiting the Salvation Army of Metro Detroit. The event will feature comedian Rocky Laporte and is set for Wednesday, Feb. 7 at 7:30 p.m.
Rocky LaPorte's appeal comes from his everyman, streetwise style of comedy. Delivering laughs in his trademark Brooklyn accent, he has become one of the most sought-after comedians in the country, accumulating a trunk full of TV and movie appearances from "Cheers" to his very own CBS pilot, "the Rocky LaPorte Show". Rocky was a finalist in the eighth season of NBC's 'Last Comic Standing', qualifying to perform on the Last Comic Standing Tour, which took place in the fall of 2014.
With over 2,500 career performances worldwide, opener Andy Beningo has been hailed for his clean and everyman style, performing for Fortune 500 companies, cruise lines, and some of the top comedy clubs in the country. Named "Best Comedian" by both the Detroit Metro Times and Hour Detroit magazine, Beningo is a frequent guest on the Bob and Tom Show and Gotham Comedy Live.
"Mark Ridley has generously hosted this event for the Salvation Army each year," said Major Russ Sjogren, general secretary and metro Detroit area commander for the Salvation Army Eastern Michigan Division. "Between a host of witty comedians and the great cause you'll be supporting, I have no doubt it will put a smile on your face."
Tickets are available for $30 by calling Mark Ridley's Comedy Castle at 248-542-9900 or at Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The address is 310 S Troy St in Royal Oak.
